Gerry McHugh Memorial Festival

Built for one day. Ran clean through it.

  • One-day event
  • Live auction
  • No platform cut

The brief

A memorial festival, organised by family and volunteers. Tickets, a live auction, multiple admins, a hard deadline.

It had to work first time, on patchy mobile signal, in front of a stand full of people.

Highlights

  • Live auction

Lots updated in real time. Bidders got automated emails confirming bids and notifying them when they were outbid.

  • Raffle tickets via Eventbrite

Eventbrite embed for raffle ticket sales — handled by a platform that already does that well.

  • One-time passcode login

Code by email. Enter it. In.

  • Multiple admins

Lots, refunds, notifications — managed from a phone, on the ground.

  • Automated email

Bid confirmations and outbid notifications sent automatically. No manual chasing.

  • No platform cut on the auction

The auction was custom-built. Funds went straight to the cause.

Outcome

Live on schedule. Ran through the day without intervention.
